Airport & Airlines
Atlanta is a popular tourist post and draws millions of visitors every year. It is very well connected to the rest of the world and travelers can easily get hassle-free air travel to Atlanta by taking a flight from any of the major airports in the world. It is regarded as the busiest airport in the world in terms of passenger traffic and also landings and take-offs.
The most important airport in the city of Atlanta is Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport. It is located approximately 8 miles southwards of downtown Atlanta. Some of the airlines that serve the airport include Alitalia, Air France, Atlas Air, British Airways, Cargolux, China Airlines, Cathay Pacific Airways, FedEx Express, EVA Air, Lufthansa Cargo, Korean Air Cargo, MasAir, Martinair Cargo, UPS Airlines and Polar Air Cargo.
Hartsfield-Jackson is primarily a hub airport for Delta Airlines and much of its traffic is transfer instead of it being departure or arrival traffic. There is a single ground side terminal which is connected to six mid-airport concourses by rail transit and underground walkways.
The concourse that is the furthest from the terminal, concourse E is meant for international flights and it is here that all customs and immigration formalities are conducted. Travelers coming over abroad to travel in Atlanta will have to clear immigration controls, clear customs, reclaim hold baggage, check hold baggage, ride the underground transit, and finally leave the airport.
There is a full array of ground transportation services that are there in the airport including airport shuttle vans, taxicabs, and car rental offices.
The Hartsfield-Jackson airport is also the terminus of the southern arm of MARTA rail system as well.
Enjoy your travel, enjoy your life!
