Atlanta Botanical Gardens located next to Piedmont Park in Midtown, covering 12 hectares of land is one of the biggest tourist attractions in the city. The garden has an objective of conserving and researching on plants while creating an awareness regarding conservation among people.

Botanical Garden constitutes of quite a few themed gardens. You will be awestruck by the wide range of flora that each of the garden displays in a different setting. The Rose Garden and Japanese Garden are the main attractions. Other exhibits include Storza Woods and Upper Woodland showcasing huge trees with heavy undergrowth. The Children's Garden is interesting and educative with fountains, sculptures and other exhibits relating to nutrition, ecology and botany.

Another section of the Botanical Garden is dedicated to the Dorothy Chapman Fuqua Conservatory which contains rare species of plants from deserts, rainforests and tropical areas. There are birds, poisonous frogs and turtles in the rainforest as well.

The Fuqua Orchid Center adjacent to this Conservatory includes rare orchids from all over the world. This Orchid Center is the biggest permanent exhibition of orchids in United States. A special exhibition is held during winters known as Orchid Daze. The montane orchids are present in this center which are found at Tropical elevation of 10,000 feet. You will love the fragrance emitted by the orchids at the Tropical Display section.

A newly constructed canopy walk extending for 180 meters has been incorporated recently. It remains open from Tuesday through Sunday from 9-7 during the summer and from 9-5 during winters. Exhibition is free for the first 15 minutes and then $1 is charged for each extra 30 minutes.
