Atlanta History Center
In the year 1926, 14 civic-minded people from the Atlanta travel city chartered the Atlanta Historical Society to help protect the city's history and culture.
These members met at each other's residence, unruffled early manuscript and pictures, and made these available to the research bulletin at that time.
Over its history of 82 years, the group has developed substantially in both capacity and dimension, and in the year 1990, the Atlanta Historical Society and all of its assets formally became the Atlanta History Center. Now situated on 33 acres in historic Buckhead, the Atlanta History Center's goal is to unite people, history, and culture throughout the country.
The Atlanta History Center is a only one of its kind campus that has the Atlanta History Museum, centenary Olympic Games Museum, Tullie Smith Farm, Swan House, 6 historic gardens, and the Kennan Research Center. The Atlanta History Center also has the Margaret Mitchell House & Museum, located nearby at the Midtown campus of the History Center.
For their nice consideration of Atlanta Georgia travel tourists, all through the year, the center brings history to life in the course of living history programs and skits, lectures with respected authors, kid programs, home school days, school and college tours, music festivals, yearly festivals like the Sheep to Shawl, and many more such events.
The Atlanta History Center's possessions have six significant gardens in lieu of Georgia's idiosyncratic vegetation, both local and introduced. Each garden tells the tale of a particular section of people who interacted with this place and its vegetation in apparent ways.
The Atlanta History Center also operates 3 historic houses, all the houses being listed on the National Register of Historic Places. The Tullie Smith Farm and the Swan House, both situated at our Buckhead site, this homes take guests back in time to discover the lifestyle of people of Atlanta from the 1860s throughout the 1930s.
