Atlanta Metro
It is hard to think of Atlant a city without MARTA (Metropolitan Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority) buses and trains. The city of Atlanta is well connected by the bus and rapid rail networks that are operated by MARTA.
The rail network has two major lines that form a cross, one runs from north to south, and the other goes from east to west. The north-south line starts from the southern terminus of the Hartsfield-Jackson airport and can travel through Atlanta downtown and also midtown Atlanta before breaking into two separate branches going northwards. One of the rods ends at the north metro Atlanta located at the North Springs station and the other ends at the Doraville station.
The east-west line operates from a western terminal located at the Hamilton E. Holmes and goes to an eastern terminal situated at the Indian Creek. It is only at the Five Points station situated in downtown Atlanta where the passengers can change trains between the east-west and the north-south lines.
The trains operate from 5am-1am from Monday to Friday and from 5am-12.30am on weekends as well as on holidays. During rush hours the train runs every 10 minutes and every 20 minutes on Sundays.
The bus network operated by MARTA has over hundred bus routes. Most of the routes run every 20 minutes. The bus services on some important lines operate from 5am-1.30am on Monday to Friday and from 5am-1am on the holidays and on weekends.
A single ride costs $1.75 and this is including transfers. The traveler Atlanta can use Single use Breeze Cards that can be bought from any of the vending machines that are present at the rail stations or at RideStores that are there in the airport.
MARTA runs slow on weekends. The wait time is 30 minutes for trains and around an hour for the buses.
Enjoy your travel, enjoy your life!
