The Georgia World Congress Center(GWCC) is a large convention center located in Atlanta. The center hosts numerous events every year attended by millions of visitors from all parts of the world. In 1974, the initial construction of the convention center began and it was officially opened in 1976. Bobbin Show was the first event hosted by the convention center on September 8 of that year.

The construction of Phase II began in 1981 and it finished in 1985. Phase III was completed in 1992. The Georgia Dome was added to the venue in the year 1992. The year 1996 was a glorious year for the GWCC, as it had Centennial Olympic Park added to the site. Both these venues further added to the reputation of the Georgia World Congress Center.

With over 100 meeting rooms, 2 ball rooms, over a million square feet of exhibit space this center is a preferred and also a world renowned convention centre. With the construction of Phase IV in 2002, the GWCC became one of the largest convention centers of the United States. A tornado hit all the buildings of the convention center, without causing any casualty. Only few days later, the center was reopened to hold the scheduled event.
More than 90 acre of the floor area is owned by the GWCC. During one of the functions, the convention center served dinner to more than 8,500 guests. The GWCC and Restaurants within the complex donate over 25,000 lbs of leftover food to a local food banks annually.
The Thomas Murphy Ballroom is on a level of the GWCC which equals to an 11-story building. The building C of the GWCC is long, wide and high enough to hold the famous Titanic ship. All such facts make the GWCC a venue worth visiting.
